AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Philip J. Bavone age 85 of Oakville died Monday evening at Apple Rehabilitation in Watertown surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Adwah (DeCarlo) Bavone.
Philip was born in Waterbury, a son of the late John and Vincenza (Adorna) Bavone and was a lifelong Oakville resident. He was educated in Watertown schools. A plumber by trade, Philip retired from the State of Connecticut in 1988 after working as plant engineer at UCONN Health Center and Superintendent of Maintenance at Waterbury Superior Court. He proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army with the 94th Infantry Division Company G. He was a combat veteran of the Battle of the Bulge and Bannholz Woods. Philip was a member of V.F.W. Post 7330, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Watertown, a member of the Bethlehem Wildlife and Conservation Club, a member of the Crestbrook Park and Recreation Senior Golf League and was a communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. Philip enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always quick to make you smile. Hunting, fishing, golfing and puttering around the house were some of his favorite pastimes. The time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy and laughter.
Besides his wife of 63 years of Oakville he leaves two daughters, Donna LePage and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, Phyllis West and her husband Jerry of Watertown. He also leaves 3 grandchildren, John Bianchini and his wife of Prospect, Joe Bianchini and his wife of AZ. and Corry Fraser and her husband of NC., four great-granddaughters, Bella, Emma, Ava and Jocelyn, two brothers, August Bavone and John Bavone and a sister Florence Bartone all of Oakville many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Nicholas, Michael, James and Peter Bavone and a sister Sophie Buccini.
Funeral Thursday at 8 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
