Mr. Philip Blandino

July 1, 1955 — November 18, 2024

Philip Edward Blandino (“Phil”) went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on November 18, 2024, after battling health challenges related to his heart and diabetes. Known for his sweet and funny demeanor, Phil brought joy to those around him and will be deeply missed by many.

Born on July 1, 1955, in Torrington, CT, Phil was the son of the late Edward Philip Blandino and Josephine Rose Silano Blandino. He is survived by his son, Justin Blandino of Indian Lake, FL; his siblings Patricia Ross of Torrington, CT, Janet Whiterock of Hamden, CT, and David Blandino(Kristen) of Flowery Branch, GA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Phil attended Lewis Mills High School and, shortly after, proudly enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served for four years, traveling the world and creating memories he treasured. Phil often reminisced about his time stationed at the U.S. Naval Base in Naples, Italy, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for Italian food and culture.

In his later years, Phil was a passionate NASCAR fan, faithfully cheering for his favorite driver, Mark Martin (#6). He especially loved his annual trips to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he embraced the excitement of the race and the camaraderie of fellow fans. On the drive to the track, you could always hear him blasting classic rock, one of his favorite pastimes.

Phil will be laid to rest alongside his parents at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Gaylord SpecialtyHealthcare (50 Gaylord Farm Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492), an organization that provided Phil with exceptional care and treatment following his traumatic brain injury in the early 2000s, and The American Legion Charities,  Attn: American Legion Legacy Donation, P.O. Box 361626, Indianapolis, IN 46236

Though our hearts are heavy with his absence, we take comfort in knowing that Phil is at peace and reunited with his Creator. AMEN!That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
