WOLCOTT- Philip Maldonado, age 71, passed away unexpectedly from injuries due to a motor vehicle accident on Monday, July 18, 2022.
Philip was born December 11, 1950 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Felipe and Petra Maldonado. He moved to Waterbury as a young adult and attended Technical Career Institute in New Haven, where he studied welding. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked for several construction companies in the state. He was also a certified diesel mechanic and spent the latter part of his career repairing commercial vehicles. Phil thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a natural ability to fix just about any and everything. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to whoever he could. His constant willingness to help others all while managing the challenges within his own life reflects not only the kindness of his soul but the tenacity of his spirit. He was witty and charismatic and loved to entertain everyone around him with his funny jokes and stories. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed with his presence.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his life partner; Nidia Vazquez. His son Philip Maldonado Jr. and his wife, Joyce Maldonado. Three daughters; Valerie Estrada, Tiffany Maldonado, and Alyssa Maldonado. Two stepdaughters; Jessica Strileckis and Melissa Vazquez. Twelve loving grandchildren Alida, Domenic, Jordan, Raquel, Tyler, Kobe, Juliana, Jisela, Jordana, Alessia, Jayden, Alexa. Great grandson Seven. Sister Sandra Santana, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Evelyn Morales.
Funeral Services for Phil will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 1:30 pm, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow immediately after at All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Rd Waterbury, CT 06706. Relatives and friends may visit with Phil's family on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, CT 06705.
