NAPLES FL - Mr. Pierce Conlan, age 79, died peacefully on October 22, 2023 at Avow Hospice Home in Naples, FL. Surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Pierce was born Feb. 9, 1944 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Mary (Corden) Conlan and Edward F. Conlan. He was born and lived in Waterbury for 75 years until moving to Naples, FL in 2019 where he lived in the Glades Country Club. He loved Naples Beach and enjoyed participating in Glades community activities like bingo, bocce and trivia. Pierce graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He was employed by the State of Connecticut for 38 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Department of Transportation before retiring in 1997. During his retirement he went back to work seasonally for DeSantis Construction. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Club for 55 years and enjoyed being a part of their bowling league. Pierce was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the Sunday race. He liked the Red Sox and was a loyal supporter of the UConn Huskies and Georgetown Hoyas Softball teams, which is currently coached by his daughter.
He leaves behind his wife, Barbara (Carroll) Conlan. They would have celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on October 24th. He also leaves his beloved daughter; Patricia of Manassas, VA, his daughter-in-law, Shanan and three grandsons, Hayden Coughlin, Owen Pierce and Reid Patrick Conlan. He also leaves his brother, Edward F. Conlan, Jr (Joyce), brother-in-law, Frank Bunker (Kelly), many nieces and nephews and lifelong Waterbury friends as well as new friends in Naples. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary C. Conlan and sister-in-law, Kathleen Bunker
Funeral services for Pierce will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Mary Mother of the Church Parish, St Leo Church, 19 Bentwood Dr Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Conlan family on Saturday morning from 8:30 -9:30 at the funeral home.
