Waterbury - Mr. Raymond Bruce Collins age 87 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 13th 2016 at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Marjorie (Brandt) Collins.
Raymond was born on June 2, 1928 in Providence RI, the son of the late Clarence and Pearl (Bouchard) Collins. He was educated in the Providence School System and proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines, the US Air Force where he was stationed in Okinowa during the Korean War and also served in the US Army before his discharge. He worked for many years as a Foreman at Mattatuck Mfg. in Waterbury. Raymond was a avid UConn basketball fan, and enjoyed having morning coffee with his friends at Burger King but most of all he enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.
Besides his devoted wife, Marge of 47 years, Raymond leaves his children, his son, Daniel and his wife, Doreen of Northfield, son David Collins-Rivera and his wife, Debbie of Sholow AZ, son, Rusty LaPointe of Morrisville VT and son, Randall LaPointe of Oakville and his daughter, Linda Collins-Fisher and her husband, Charles of Watertown. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a niece. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald LaPointe and a sister, Lois McNeils.
Funeral services for Mr. Collins will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Raymond's family on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the service at 11:00 at the funeral home.
