Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather
WATERBURY – Raymond J Frageau Jr. age 76, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Vitas Innovative Care unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a five-year courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. He was the husband of Patricia (Boland) Frageau and the former husband of Kathy Smith Frageau.
Ray was born September 3rd, 1947, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Raymond J. Frageau Sr and Jeannette (Brodeur) Hamel. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School and Sacred Heart College, where he earned his master's degrees in math and Public Administration. Ray worked as the CETA Director of the City of Waterbury and served as the executive director and CFO of Community Mental Health Affiliates before his retirement. Ray was exceptional in almost every way and had many passions in life, especially; traveling throughout the world, white water rafting, collecting memorabilia, and playing racquetball, but above all else he excelled at being the most devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Ray will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, beside his wife, Patty, is his son, Matthew Frageau, and his wife Emma, and their three children, Olivia, Conor, and Penelope. He also leaves his brother-in-law, Donald Boland and his wife, Kim and their children, Ryan, Haley, and Jillian, as well as his sister-in-law, Donna Boland. In addition, Ray also leaves his cousins, Barbara and Karl Hagen and their children Eric and Christopher as well as Robert and Theresa McLaughlin and their son Kyle. Besides his parents, Ray is predeceased by his father-in-law Leo Hamel and his aunt Francis Mclaughlin
Funeral services for Mr. Frageau will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown.
