WATERBURY CT - Raymond Joseph Gruzas, age 79 of Bethany, formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the husband of Christine (Brickett) Gruzas.
Raymond was born on September 26, 1939 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Thomas J. Sr. and Harriet (Vidutis) Gruzas. He was educated in local schools and was a dedicated employee of CT Die Cutting Services for over 50 years where he retired as Plant Manager. Raymond was an avid member of the ConneticKITERS kite club and loved bringing amazement to all those who saw him launch his massive kites. He enjoyed computers, playing cards, driving his Buick, and his signature Mudslide drinks. Most important to Raymond was his wife and family, to whom he was completely dedicated to. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his wife, Christine, Raymond leaves his children; Shelley Corey, Linda Gruzas and Theresa Torres and her husband, Fernando all of Waterbury, his son, Scott Gruzas and his wife, Rebecca of East Lyme and daughter, Sara Gruzas of Bethany. He also leaves his sister, Dolores Stack of Waterbury, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Gruzas will be held on Friday, February 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Raymond's family on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
