Mr. Raymond E. Lyons Jr.

Retired Waterbury Police Officer 

WATERBURY - Raymond E. Lyons Jr age 95 of Waterbury passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home at the Ivy in Watertown on Monday, August 19, 2024. He was the husband of the late Kathleen A. (Baxter) Lyons.  

Mr. Lyons was born on July 9, 1929, in Waterbury, the son of the late Raymond E. Lyons Sr and Ethel (Pollard) Lyons. He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force on the military police force. Following his service to our country, he joined the Waterbury Police Dept and served with great pride and dedication for 37 ½ years. He enjoyed golfing with friends and family at the East Mountain golf course but what was most important to Ray was his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church. He was the epitome of a true gentleman and will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him. May his memory be an everlasting memory.  

Left to honor his memory and legacy are his children; daughter Beth Beadle and her husband Robert of Enfield, sons; Thomas Lyons of Torrington, Robert and his wife Melissa of Middlebury, 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. As our family mourns the loss of a special father and grandfather, we are deeply touched by the outpouring of support by family friends and the community. The considerate and thoughtful care provided by The Ivy of Watertown has been a great source of comfort during this difficult time and the family is grateful beyond words can express. 

Funeral services for Mr. Lyons will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Lyons family on Monday from 11:00 until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
