Affectionately known to many as "Sting-Ray"
WATERTOWN - Raymond George Shimkevich, age 60, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Mary's Hospital on January 9, 2022.
Raymond was born on October 1, 1961, in San Pedro, California to the late Amelia "Amy" Fortier and John Shimkevich. He graduated from Kaynor Tech in Waterbury and then pursued a career in construction for over 30 years. Raymond was known to be a hardworking man, who enjoyed cooking, and going fishing. He was a huge fan of both NASCAR and Football, his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Raymond was known by all those close to him as "Sting Ray", who had a fun outgoing personality and will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his two sons: Nicholas Shimkevich and his finance, Mikayla Boroski and Jeffery Shimkevich, his brothers; Don Shimkevich of Washington and Jay Shimkevich of Florida along with many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends may visit with Raymond's family on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of a service at 3:00 p.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville, CT 06779. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. We are still concerned about the pandemic so masks must be always worn, while inside whether you are vaccinated or not.
