AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - OAKVILLE ?" ?" Mr. Rene` J. LeClerc age 81, of Saunders Ave. Oakville and Ruskin FL, died Tuesday at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Dorothy (Dupont) LeClerc.
Rene` was born on October 6, 1927 in Acton Vale, Province of Quebec, Canada, the son of Aldeo and Orise (Joubert) LeClerc. He attended St. Anne's School in Waterbury and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked as an electrician for 26 years at Scovill Mfg., Oakville and Waterbury and for 17 years at Hemingway & Bartlett, Watertown. Rene` was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and was an accomplished handyman, able to take anything apart and put it back together with amazing results. He was involved for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 55 in Watertown. Rene` was happiest of all when he was surrounded by his family whom he treasured above all else. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church.
Besides his loving wife of 57 years, Rene` leaves three children, Thomas J. LeClerc and his wife Susan of Enfield, Michael J. LeClerc and his wife Debbie of Thomaston and Leah LeClerc of Cornelius North Carolina, four grandchildren; Sarah, Ashley, Peter and Kevin. He also leaves two brothers, Roger of Plymouth and Henry of Oakville and two sisters, Cecile Lamy of Terryville and Irene Morel of Wolcott as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. LeClerc will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Buckingham St. Oakville at 9:00am. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours for Mr. LeClerc have been scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 4:00 till 7:00pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St.,Oakville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the St. Mary Magdalen School Building Fund, 145 Buckingham St., Oakville, CT 06779.
