Rene Nageotte

d. May 19, 2016

Mr. Rene R. Nageotte, age 85 of Waterbury, CT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on May 19, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Joan (Traver) Nageotte.

Frenchie as many knew him, was born in Saint-Dizier-l'Eveque France in December 1930 to the late Rene F. and Helene Nageotte, emigrating to the United States when he was just a child. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he pursued one of his passions, pitching for the baseball team. Following sports was one of his favorite activities, ardently supporting the UConn Huskies, New York Giants, and New York Yankees through the booms and busts. He attended Crosby High School and worked many years for Bond Bread and Coyne Textiles always preferring to be out of the office, rather than stuck behind a desk. After retiring in his early 60's and realizing it wasn't for him, he spent next 20 years driving pilot car service for Blossom's, finally realizing that at the age of 84 retirement was due. He also co-owned with his wife,"Joan's Luncheonette" on Hamilton Ave for many years. Rene was to those whom had the pleasure to know him, was an extremely kind and generous grandfather, father, husband, friend, and overall good person. He was always willing to help anyone in need, never expecting nor wanting, anything in return. The only time he ever showed annoyance was when people would inconvenience themselves at all on his account or if people drove in a careless manner. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joan, his three children Donald of Woodbury, Robert and his wife ,Sheri of Waterbury and Sharon Barra and her husband, Mark of Waterbury, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his son Raymond Nageotte.
