WATERBURY - Richard A. "Dick" Aczas age 78, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 29th 2013 at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was the loving husband of Claudette (Devost) Aczas.
Dick was born November 30th 1934 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Anthony and Joan (Marozas) Aczas. He graduated from Wilby High School and received his Associates Degree from the University of Hartford before joining the US Army. Dick was a Police Officer for the City of Waterbury and retired after 25 years of services. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the East Mountain Golf League and the Waterbury Elks Club.
Besides his wife of 56 years, Claudette, Richard is survived by his children, Randy Aczas of Montana, Doreen Aczas of Waterbury and Melissa Lister and her husband Jeffery of Prospect whom he loved dearly. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, and Jeffrey Jr. Lister, Joshua, Renee', and Sarah Aczas, as well as his great grandchildren Isabelle, Samuel, Remi and Natalie.
Funeral services for Mr. Aczas will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 with the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Saint Leo the Great Church, 14 Bentwood Dr. Waterbury, CT at 10:30am. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Rites of committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
