OAKVILLE - Richard H. Derouin Sr., age 75 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2016 at Apple Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the widower of Antoinette (Coviello) Derouin.
Richard was born October 26th 1941 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Homer and Mary (Oliver) Derouin. He was a lifelong Oakville resident and was a graduate of Watertown High School who proudly served his country with the U.S. ARMY. Prior to his retirement in 1995, Richard was employed at Scovill Manufacturing as a toolmaker for many years. After his retirement, he took great joy in serving as the driver for the Watertown Senior Center Bus. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, go camping and boating. He was also an active communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. What brought the greatest joy to Richard was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Among his survivors are his son, Richard H. Derouin Jr., of Oakville, his two daughters, Lisa DiBianco and her fiancée Robert Boudreau of Torrington, Michelle Bouchard and her husband, Gary of Oakville, his twin sister, Mary Jane Michaud and her husband, Vinal in addition to his grandchildren, Amanda, Kaylee and Jonathan as well as several other extended family members. The Derouin family would like to thank and acknowledge all of the staff at Apple Rehab in Watertown for the care and love they shared with Richard during his stay there.
Funeral services for Mr. Derouin will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 9:00am at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville CT. Relatives and friends may visit with Richard's family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8:00am until the time of the service at 9:00. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
