THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF RICHARD O'CONNOR
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather
WATERBURY - Richard William O'Connor, age 71, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 30th 2020. He was the loving husband of Lesa O'Connor.
Richard was born on January 11th 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Homer and Dolores (McCorkel) O'Connor. He graduated from Antelope Valley High School (Lancaster, CA) in 1967 and studied Radio Broadcasting at UCLA before moving to the East Coast to begin his DJ career, and Connecticut quickly became his home. He worked at a number of CT radio stations including WPOP, WTIC, and WIOF. Richard was an avid sports fan - with baseball, hockey, and football being his favorites - and an animal lover, especially dogs. Although he admitted that Golden Retrievers were his favorite breed, he never met a dog that he didn't instantly fall in love with. But above all else, Richard was known among his family and friends for being a kind, generous, and supportive person with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and a deep love for home and family.
Left to cherish his memory, and honor his love and legacy are his children: stepsons Henry, Jason, and Kevin Blanchard, daughter-in-law Janet Blanchard; and daughters Karen O'Connor and Kimberly Carlascio, and his son-in-law Mark Carlascio. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Anthony and Zachary Blanchard, as well as his siblings: Terry O'Connor and his wife, Carol, and Gail Rauch.
Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines and associated governmental restrictions regarding the pandemic and since Richard was known for having a "better safe than sorry" mentality, a Memorial Service will be planned and announced once federal restrictions are lifted. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to an animal rescue organization in his honor. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been honored to assist the O'Connor family during this difficult time. Memories endure only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the O'Connor family on William's tribute page at
