Accomplished Woodworker and Puzzle Genius
PROSPECT - Mr. Richard A. Plumpton age 80 of Prospect, passed away Monday April 29, 2019 at the Hospital of Central CT- New Britain, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the devoted husband of Carol Plumpton of 49 years.
Richard was born in Waterbury CT on September 27, 1938, the son of the late Harold and Olive (Dawes) Plumpton. He was educated in local schools, graduated from Crosby High School and served for over 14 years in the US Army Reserve. He was an accomplished tradesman in the painting and wallpaper business and employed for Gyuricsko and Mueller for over 40 years. Rich was a lifelong NY Giants fan. Among his favorite things were woodworking, making furniture and many gifts for his family and friends. He was an impressive marksman, a puzzle genius, an accomplished artist but most importantly an incredible family man. He adored spending time with his grandchildren playing with trains and even building a train for them to be able to ride around the yard on, brining them hours of pleasure. He was a great man that will be missed and never forgotten.
Besides his wife, Carol, he leaves his daughters, Jennifer DeFazio and her husband, Ric and Rebecca Landry and her husband, Mike as well as two grandchildren, Rita Grace Landry and Stephen Michael Landry and two step-grandchildren James and Sara DeFazio whom we welcomed into his family with open arms. He also leaves two sisters, Carole Mueller and her husband, Herman and Marcia Coretto and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Plumpton will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Richard's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
