WATERBURY - Mr. Richard H. Ricciardi Sr. age 79 of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly on Sunday January 24, 2016.
Dick was born November 17th 1936 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Alpi J. Ricciardi and Pauline (Byron) Grant. He resided in Waterbury and Cheshire. After retiring as a machinist he drove a school bus for many years. Dick enjoyed gardening, and spent his free time working "down the farm" in Cheshire and making homemade wine with old friends. He was the life of the party and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Richard H. Ricciardi Jr. and wife Mary Grace of Wallingford, Bonnie Firestone and her husband Elliot of Coventry, Linda Ricciardi of Henderson NV, and Raymond Ricciardi of Cheshire, son-in-Law Brian Hughes of Porter TX, and his grandchildren Brianne, Tarah, Amanda, Adriana, Michelle, and Stephen. He is also survived by his longtime companion Anne Wrenn and her children David and wife Gina, Lynn, Cheryl and Jim Reed, Pat and Joe Alfieri, Michelle and Edward Rosendale, his Aunt Claire Tedesco and his former wife Diane (Ricciardi) Barile, his siblings Alan, Allison, Milan, Paul, Rosie, Susan, Tippy, Tom, and Trudy as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Camille Hughes, grandson Casey Hughes, his sister Joann, and brother Bitsy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, followed by a burial in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Dick's family on Friday evening from 5 till 7 pm at the funeral home.
