WATERBURY - Rita M. McGuire age 84, formerly of Nottingham Terrace Waterbury, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Saturday, September 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.
Rita was born October 14th 1928 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of the late Ernest and Angelina (DePasquale) Mertz. She was a lifelong Waterbury resident and was educated in local schools and worked as a foot press operator at Waterbury Companies for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Saint Margaret's Church and enjoyed spending time with her friends who would gather and visit local nursing homes to sing for their residents.
Among her survivors are her son, Richard and his wife Jeannemarie of Port St. Lucie Fl, her sister Ernestine Juleson, of Trumbull her four grandchildren, Eric, Terrence, Ryan and TJ McGuire as well as four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas McGuire and her daughter Carolanne McGuire.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McGuire will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013 at 11:00 am at Eastside Memorial, "A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME & TRIBUTE CENTER" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Rites of committal will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit with Rita's family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
