THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF RITA FITZPATRICK SEGAL
Waterbury - Rita Ann Fitzpatrick Segal, age 85 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on Friday, January 11, 2019, after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Robert Segal.
Rita was born July 5, 1933 in Pittston, PA, the daughter of the late James & Alice (Knecht) Norton. She moved to the Waterbury at age 12 and was educated in local schools. Rita spent 23 years working as a Unit Clerk at Saint Marys' Hospital, Emergency Room before retiring in 1994. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, knitting, reading and also taking trips to the casino with her sister, Mary. What brought the greatest joy to Rita was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Rita will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Besides her husband, Robert of 41 years, Rita is survived by her children, Linda Zanavich and her husband Joseph of Lisbon,CT, Thomas Fitzpatrick and his wife, Janet of Nashville, TN, Sandra Fitzpatrick and her husband Richard Ellefsen, of Plymouth, CT, Steven Fitzpatrick of San Francisco, CA, and Christopher Fitzpatrick and his wife, Sharon of West Richard, WA. She also leaves her three step children David Segal and his wife, Barbara, Cheryl Segal and Marlene Schaffner all of Waterbury. In addition to her children and step children, she leaves her siblings, Joseph Norton and his wife, Nancy of Naugatuck, Edward Norton of Farmington, Mary Napolitano of Waterbury and Eileen Colicchio and her husband, Richard of Waterbury as well as her 14 adoring grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Segal will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at 10:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. @Southmayd Rd Waterbury, CT 06705 to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St, Waterbury, CT 06708 where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Rita's family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until leaving for church at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
