Avid traveler and loving sister
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Rita M. Tribbey, age 90, of Watertown, announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Cook Willow Health Center in Plymouth. She was the widow of her late husband William “Bill” Tribbey.
Rita was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on December 3rd, 1933, the daughter of the late Max Anctil and Yvonne (Bernier) Anctil. She was raised in Waterbury, graduated with the class of 1951 at Wilby High School and attended Post Business College. She moved to Florida and California and worked as a secretary in various law firms for several years. While in California, she met and married William “Bill” Tribbey. Bill and Rita traveled with their mobile home club to various destinations like Mount Rushmore, Yosemite National Park, to CT to visit family and many other places. A vibrant spirit, Rita radiated joy and made friends wherever she went. Her love for life was evident in her passion for playing bridge, where she formed lasting connections with her “Bridge Club” friends. Together, they cruised to enchanting destinations, including Mexico, Hawaii, and through the breathtaking Panama Canal. Additionally, Rita and her dear friend Mickie embarked on unforgettable travels across Europe, exploring the beauty of Italy, France, Germany, and Switzerland. Rita enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her loving family. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish and honor Rita’s memories are her sister, Doris Anctil, her stepdaughter, Jeannine Bishop and her husband Ronald and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her late husband, she is also predeceased by her two brothers: Robert and Raymond Anctil.
All services for Mrs. Tribbey will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
