WATERBURY - Robert Church, age 90, of Waterbury passed away peacefully Monday November 24, 2015 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center of Naugatuck, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness.
Robert was born November 18th 1925 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late William and Mary (Murphy) Church. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and proudly served his country with the US Navy during WWII. Bob spent many years working at the Waterbury Farrell Companies and was the Owner Operator of Bob's Home Laundry Repair. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheridan Council #24 where he served as former Grand Knight. He was a member of the Oakville VFW Post #7330, the
American Legion Post #195, Watertown and was a long time parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Among his survivors are his former wife, Rita (Gagnon) Church, his children;, Robert E. Church, and his wife, Maureen of Fredericksburg, VA. Daniel Church of Waterbury, Thomas Church, and his wife, Linda of Spotsylvania, VA, Donald Church of Naugatuck, his daughters, Ann Sweeney and her husband, Robert of Waterbury, Patricia Montgomery and her husband, Robert of Wolcott, His daughter in-law Barbara Church of Huntersville, NC. his sister, Virginia Hotchkiss of Waterbury and his 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, William Church and his three sisters Agatha, Theresa, and Rita.
Funeral services for Mr. Church will be held on Saturday November 28th, 2015 at 8:30am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Saint Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Family and friends may visit with Robert's family at the funeral home on Friday November 27th from 4:00 ~ 6:00pm.
