THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF ROBERT CHARLES GAYLORD.
WOLCOTT CT - Robert Charles Gaylord age 89 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Waterbury Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
Robert was born in Bristol, CT on August 2, 1931, the son of the late Harold Gaylord and Elsie Mason. They moved to Cheshire where he attended schools in where he also spent several years working as a lifeguard. At the age of 17 Robert joined the United States Navy where he proudly served our country for 5 years during the Korean War Conflict. After being honorably discharged he returned from the Navy and worked at the International Silver Company for many years. Here at work, he met the late Helen Gaylord, with whom he had his daughter Dawn (Gaylord) Medina. Robert enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, being a jokester, eating chocolate, and being a big flirt especially to all the nurses who took care of him over the years. Robert was a diehard Yankee's baseball fan. He was also well known for his famous train whistle that all of his family would request him to do.
The family would like to thank Wolcott View Manor and Abbot Terrace for the care of Robert over the years.
Left to honor he legacy and cherish his memory are his daughter Dawn Medina and her husband Jose, his granddaughter Stephanie Lampron, and his two great grandchildren; Evan Rodriquez and Amaya Gonell. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was the last surviving member of his family being predeceased by 8 siblings.
Funeral services for Mr. Gaylord will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be at the convince of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Memories last only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or personal memory with the family on Robert's tribute page at:
