AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WATERBURY CT. Mr. Robert J. Morrissey, age 94, of Stoddard Rd.. Waterbury, died Saturday at the Beacon Brook Healthcenter in Naugatuck after an extended illness. He was the loving husband of Helen (Hurley) Morrissey.
Mr. Morrissey was born in Waterbury on April 7, 1917 the son of the late John P. and Ann (Czesky) Morrissey. He was a graduate of Barnard Grammar School, Wilby High School and Quinnipiac University where he earned a degree in accounting. Robert was accepted as a State of CT, Certified Public Accountant in 1943 and then joined the U.S. Army in the same year. He proudly served his country during World War II, saw action in the South Pacific, New Caledonia, the Philippines and Japan and while in the service attended Wake Forest and Duke University studying Army Finance. He returned to Waterbury in 1946 and began an illustrious career at Timex Corporation where he attained the rank of Vice President and Treasurer of the worldwide operation. During his tenure at Timex he was involved with many civic organizations including United Way, American Cancer, American Red Cross and Mattatuck Community College Foundation. He retired from Timex in 1980 and joined Center Point Consortium as a Senior Vice President retiring in 1986. Robert was a member of the Ct Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
A man of deep faith, Mr. Morrissey was a founder and trustee of Our Lady of Loreto Church and was an active member, Eucharistic Minister and Lector there from 1973 till 2006. He was the recipient of the prestigious St Joseph Medal for his contributions to Our Lady of Loreto in June 2002. He was also a founder of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury and a longtime member of both the Country Club of Waterbury and the Waterbury Club.
Besides his wife of 68 years, Mr. Morrissey leaves two daughters: Mrs. Roberta Ford and her husband Francis of Waterbury and Linda Morrissey of Simsbury, his 2 grandchildren, Susanne Nelson and her husband Bryan and Kimberly Pisani and her husband Ralph and 5 great grandchildren; Brooke, Paige, Ava, Ellie and Taylor.

Funeral Services with full Military Honors for Mr. Morrissey will be held on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 9:00a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St, Waterbury to Our Lady of Loreto Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00-7:00pm.
