WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness and overwhelming grief that the family of Robert McNamara Kennedy announce his sudden passing following a brief illness on Sunday December 24, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital.
Mr. Kennedy was born on May 18, 1961 in Waterbury, the son of Marie (LaMontagne) Kennedy and the late Arthur Kennedy. Robert was educated in local schools, was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, and earned his advanced degrees from Southern CT State College. At the time of his passing, he was the owner and operator of Safe Homes Inc. specializing in home safety inspections, lead testing, and monitoring services. Robert was an avid fitness enthusiast and was a member of several local gyms. He loved the beach and his cottage on Cape Cod but nothing was more important to him than his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy besides his mother, are Robert's siblings: Sharon Kennedy, Denise Milroy and her husband Andrew, Lynn Kennedy and her husband Paul, William Kennedy and his wife Janet, Marla O’Connor and her husband Michael, and Pamela Kennedy. Left to miss the uncle they were so fond of are his nieces and nephews: Alison, Krista, Libby, Patrick, Emily, Paige and Maggie as well as his great nieces and nephews: Jack, Phoebe, William, Bennett, Gryffin, Henry, and Claire. Robert also leaves behind his life long friend, Meg Kelley and his beloved dog and companion, Romeo. Robert will be sadly missed by all those that were blessed to know and love him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Funeral services for Mr. Kennedy will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Kennedy family on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury.
