AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Robert W. Keyes, age 78, of Brendan Street, Waterbury, died Monday at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Antoinette (Pappaianni) (Fernandez) Keyes.
Robert was born June 22, 1930 in Waterbury , a son of the late Thomas W. and Anna (Valaitis) Keyes and lived in Waterbury most of his life. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School . Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed at Peter Paul in Naugatuck . Robert also worked as a food steward at Harry Stevens in New York, and General Electric in Fairfield . He was an avid gardener and wine maker and also enjoyed trips to the casino. He was a communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville .
Besides his wife of 49 years of Waterbury, he leaves three sons; Richard Fernandez of Middlebury, Robert Fernandez of Sarasota, FL., Manuel Fernandez of Tarpon Springs , FL. , a daughter Julie Fernandez of Naugatuck, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his faithful companion Bennie. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas W. Keyes.
Funeral Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for Mass at 11. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury .
