Robert J. Lariviere Sr., 82, of Estero, FL died Friday January 6. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Waterbury, CT, a son of the late George Sr. and Helen Lariviere.
Bob grew up in Waterbury, graduated from Leavenworth High School. He entered the US Army and served his country from 1955 to 1961. On July 28, 1962 he married Mary Ann Kavula. Bob and Mary Ann owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Torrington, CT from 1966 to 1996. In 1998, they moved from Torrington, CT to Marco Island, FL, as seasonal residents. In December of 2005 they moved to Estero, FL and Winsted, CT. Bob was a member of the bocce and Mariners Clubs at the Cascades and loved boating, fishing and building boat models.
Surviving are his wife Mary Ann; children, Christina (Steve) Allyn of East Canaan, CT, Cynthia (Rick Marous) Lariviere of West Palm Beach, FL, and Douglas (Merri) Lariviere of Simsbury, CT; grandchildren, Christian, Joshua and Natalie Allyn and Tyler, Eva and Anna Lariviere; brothers, George Sr. of Waterbury, CT, Vincent (Peggy) of Riverside, CA and Raymond of Waterbury, CT; godson, David Lariviere of Medina, OH; and goddaughters, Denise Lariviere-Meenan of Pasadena, CA, and Kim Grimes of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Jr. and siblings, Earl and Virginia Lariviere.
Friends will be received at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 11:00AM till 12:00PM with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00PM.
Visitation in Waterbury, CT will take place at Eastside Memorial, 1987 E. Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705 on January 13, 2017 at 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury CT.
