Waterbury ?" Robert "Murf" Marafino age 82, formerly of Geddes Ter. Waterbury, died Sunday October 19, 2009 at Paradigm Health Care Center of Waterbury after a brief illness.
Mr. Marafino was born September 29th 1927 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Michael and Rose (Mariano) Marafino. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and attended Post Junior College and proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was the former owner of the Naugatuck Package Store until it was destroyed during the flood of 1955. He went on to work for Timex Corporation as a quality control inspector for many years before his retirement. Robert enjoyed many types of music but had a passion for classical music and playing the piano as well as the violin. He was also a skilled and experienced piano tuner and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his companion, Julia Lachowski, his brother Raymond and his wife Elizabeth Marafino of West Hartford, his nieces and nephews Matthew Raymond Marafino, Maria Elizabeth Bateas, MeiLun Marques, Andrew Raymond Marafino as well as his cousin and long time care giver Carol Miller.
Funeral services for Mr. Marafino will be held on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 10:00 am from the Casey ?" O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to the SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery Naugatuck.
