WOLCOTT- Robert J. McKenna, age 73 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his devoted family.
Robert was born on September 23, 1948 in Waterbury and was the son of the late Robert O. and Marge (Gorman) McKenna. He graduated from Wolcott High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. A toolmaker by trade, he worked for Highland Manufacturing for over 20 years and then retired from Johnson and Johnson in 2014. Bob was a huge fan of NASCAR, an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening with his pets by his side. He loved fireworks, Fourth of July, and most of all his family.
Robert was the husband of Grace Anne (Dileone) McKenna and dedicated father of Anthony Robert McKenna of Philadelphia, and Lauren Marie McKenna of Vernon. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings, Patricia and her husband Michael Ruby, Martin McKenna and his wife Arlene, Sandra Olmstead and her significant other Albert Landeen, and his many nieces and nephews. Bob was also loved and cherished by Grace's family, the Meehans, O'Connells, Dileones, and Distefanos.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main Street at Southmayd Road in Waterbury has been honored to serve the McKenna family during this difficult time. To honor Bob's memory, contributions to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance or the Wolcott Dog Pound in his name would be greatly appreciated by his family.
