WATERBURY - Robert A. Parenteau Sr. age 75 of Waterbury, formerly of Wolcott died October 21, 2013 at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center. He was the widow of Janice (Palmer) Parenteau.
Robert was born April 17, 1938 in Waterbury, a son of the late Julian and Cecile (Morin) Parenteau and lived in Wolcott for over forty years. He attended Don Bosco Seminary and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Prior to his retirement, Robert was a general manager at the former Coyne Textile and had also worked at Demsey Manufacturing in Watertown. He was a life-time member and former captain of the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance and an avid Red Sox fan. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He leaves two sons Stephen of Waterbury, Gregory Parenteau and his wife Donna of Wolcott, two brothers Roger and Paul Parenteau, both of Florida, three sisters Joan Bauer of Massachusetts, Jeanne Pettine of Florida, Nancy St. Jean of Thomaston, eight grandchildren James, Colleen, Stephen, Kelly-Lynn, Robert, Joshua, Gregory, Patrick, a great grandson Ethan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Robert Parenteau Jr., and a grandson Daniel.
Funeral Friday October 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville, CT 06779. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. Friends and family may visit with Robert's family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance 48 Todd Road Wolcott, CT 06716.
