Gulf War Veteran

WATERBURY - Mr. Robert L. Rodriguez, age 52 of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. He was the loving husband of Annette Rodriguez.

Robert was born on April 24, 1969, in Waterbury, the son of Mercedes Rodriguez and the late Hector L. Rodriguez. Robert was a graduate of Kaynor Technical High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy for eight years during the Gulf War. Robert continued his education at Post University where he earned his bachelor's in computer science and his MBA. Robert was a long-time employee of Raytheon Technologies, formerly Pratt & Whitney, where he pursued his passion of working in aviation and on jet engines for 24 years. Robert enjoyed watching the History Channel and working on cars with his dad. He was always happiest while spending time with his family, especially his children, Alex and Rachel Rodriguez, and his beloved pets, Simba and Appa. Robert was a parishioner of All Saints Church.

In addition to his wife of 24 years, Annette, and his children, Alex and Rachel, Robert leaves his mother, Mercedes Rodriguez of Waterbury; his brother, Danny Rodriguez and his wife Laura, who reside in Florida; and his sister, Leeana Rodriguez of Waterbury. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, many close friends, and extended family members to cherish his memory and honor his legacy.

The Rodriguez family would like to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to Yale New Haven Hospital and all of the wonderful nurses and staff at the Smilow Cancer Center for the care and love they shared with Robert and his family.

Funeral services for Robert will be held on Friday, April 8, at 8 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Church Shrine of St. Anne's at 515 South Main St. in Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Relatives and friends may visit with Robert's family on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 1987 East Main St. in Waterbury.
