Waterbury – Robert G. Taber, age 78, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2022, in Waterbury, CT.
Robert was born on Feb 19, 1944, in New Haven, the son of the late Reginald and Ann Taber, brother of the late Bruce Taber, and former husband to Joan Howard of Boston, MA, and in later years, Sandra Sue Harris of Cupertino, CA. Robert attended Cheshire Academy and worked weekends as a ski instructor at Mount Snow and summers as a driver in Martha’s Vineyard. He also worked for the New Haven Railroad as a train conductor for 2 years before choosing construction as his trade. He first operated heavy equipment, progressed to foreman, then licensed general contractor and construction business owner. He was a lifetime sportsman who played hockey and tennis through his school years and enjoyed skiing, swimming, and golf. He was a free spirit who traveled often and appreciated nature and poetry. He delighted in entertaining people, finding any reason to laugh, and was a loving father who taught his daughter every sport and skill he knew.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his daughter, Robin Donnelly, of Guilford, CT, and his nephew, Brandon Taber, of Oakland, CA.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of Robert’s family; his ashes will be cared for by his family as he wished. Casey’s Eastside memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, is honored to assist the Taber family during this difficult time.
