WOLCOTT – Mr. Robert M. Thornton, a very proud U.S. Veteran, passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2023 in the comfort of his home at the age of 60, after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Robert was born on June 1, 1963 in Clinton MA the son of Andrew Trykowski and Chung Hi. He was raised in Bristol CT, graduated from Bristol Eastern High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he served in Turkey as a Chef. He was a distinguished U.S. Veteran having earned awards for outstanding performance and superior scores in Rifle Marksmanship and Army physical readiness and an overall exemplary award for Basic Military Skills. He recently retired as an employee of the State of CT where he was in the Maintenance Department of Blue Hills Hospital in Hartford. Robert will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his parents are his brothers, his longtime partner, Chris, several nieces and nephews and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Thornton will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the State of CT Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane Middletown. Full military honors will be accorded Mr. Thornton after committal services.
