THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF ROBEERT M. VELARDO SR
OAKVILLE -Robert M. Velardo Sr. of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2019 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital.
Robert was born in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Nicola and Alice Velardo He was educated in local schools and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War conflict. Robert was a talented and hardworking bricklayer who worked throughout the Connecticut area, building many brick and masonry structures and was a member of the local Bricklayers Union. Robert loved to dance and was a member of many area senior centers including Oakville, Prospect, Torrington, and Bristol where he enjoyed dancing and performing in variety shows for nursing homes and senior centers. When not spending time with his many friends at the senior centers, Robert would enjoy spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Among his survivors are his sons; Robert M. Velardo Jr. of Oakville and Michael Velardo of Waterbury. In addition, he leaves his siblings, Nicholas Velardo of Bantam, Angela "Chick" Konavaluk of Wolcott, Alyce Tedesco and her husband, Frank of Middlebury, and Barbara Bouchard and her husband, Philip of Waterbury. He also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his son, Steven Velardo and brother, his Joseph Velardo.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Velardo will be held on Friday, June 28th 2019 at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St, Oakville, CT 06779 at 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with Robert's family on Friday evening, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
