Retired City of Waterbury Employee

WATERBURY- Robert J. Williams Sr. (Geeche Bob) age 83 of Waterbury passed away on Thursday September 24, 2020 at Abbott Terrace Nursing Center in Waterbury. He was the husband of Vidalina (Guadalupe) Williams.

Robert was born in Troy AL the son of the late James and Gussie (Bimbo) Williams. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Robert worked for the City of Waterbury as a maintainer for many years at the Dept of Public Assistance and then at the Waterbury Police Dept. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Fulton Park, and was an avid reader of the Republican American. He was a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins and never missed watching a game.

Left to cherish his legacy besides his wife of 39 years are his children; son, Robert James Williams Jr of Waterbury, daughters; Allison Williams of Waterbury, Frances Burrell of Bridgeport, Mae Johnson of Atlanta GA, Melissa and Michael Vargas of Waterbury and his sister, Mary Reeves of Waterbury. Robert and Vidalina were blessed with several grandchildren, Malik, Mason, Juliana, Marissa, Aidan, Brittany, Andrew, and Wisdaeim. He also leaves several nieces and nephews
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides in the 2 East Wing at Abbott Terrace and his Oncologist Dr. Flannagan and staff for their kindness and special care.

Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with his family from 8:30 till the service at 10:00 am. All COVID -19 attendance restrictions will be strictly enforced.
