AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME- Roberta Lesley ( Davis ) Zappone, age 86 of Main Street passed away March 30, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She has joined her beloved husband of 67 years, Anthony E. Zappone, who passed away in June 2008.
Roberta was born November 12, 1922 in Waterbury , the daughter of the late Leslie and Louisa (Munson) Davis and lived in Oakville most of her life. She was a graduate of Leavenworth High School . She was a full-time homemaker, devoted to her family, and best fiend to her children. Her many talents included painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepont, and cake decorating. Roberta was an avid duckpin bowler with many trophys, and greatly enjoyed her time with her "Bowling Girls" at Perillo's in Waterbury. She also took pleasure from reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Roberta had donated much time to the Girl Scouts of America and was a troop leader for many years.
She leaves 3 children: her son, Robert A. Zappone, of Oakville; her daughter, Debra J. Zappone and her husband Rene G. Martineau of Watertown , and her daughter, Marylou Berry and grandson, Raymond B. Berry both of Watertown. She is survived by her brother, Edgar Davis, of Stuart, FL., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Beverly D. Zappone, of Oakville.
Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street to Saint Mary Magdalen Church for Mass at 11. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown . Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Saint Mary Magdalen School Building Fund, 140 Buckingham St. Oakville CT 06779.
