WATERBURY - Roberto Medina Sr., passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2015 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family He was the husband of the late Felicita (Planas) Medina.
Roberto was born on November 16, 1933 in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Benedicto and Carmen (Rodriquez) Medina. Raised and educated in Juana Diaz, he entered the U.S. Army in 1955 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Roberto was employed for many years in the Thomaston School District and retired as Maintenance Supervisor of Thomaston High School. Roberto loved to fish and was dedicated to his family. His children were privileged to watch a great man provide for his entire family, through his hard work and honorable principles. He was forever faithful to his home, adored by his peers and appreciated by all to those he associated with. Today God gained an angel.
Roberto is survived by his children; daughters, Elizabeth Morales of Waterbury, Maritza Rivera of Bristol and Felicita Medina of Waterbury and his son, Roberto Medina Jr. of Orlando FL, his siblings; Rosa Villa Medina, Wilson Medina, Nellie Hernandez Medina and Maria Louisa Rivera. His devoted grandchildren, His grandchildren, Ramon Morales, Michael and Elizabeth Morales, Jose Velez, Jeanette Cruz, Jorge and Nitza Rodriguez, Jessica Ocasio and Maritza Rivera, Carlo, Fernando and Giovanni Torres, Carlos Carmona, Emely Medina, Roberto Medina lll, Delma Medina, Aaron Barkasey; 33 great-grand-children and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Luis Rivera.
Funeral Services for Mr. Medina will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 12:15 pm at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Roberto's family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am until the service at 12:15 pm.
