“Beloved Mother and Grandmother”


WATERBURY – Rose M. Angell, age 82 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Waterbury. She was the widow of Edmund G. Angell Sr.

Rose was born on August 4, 1940 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Ernest and Ann (McDermott) Benson. Rose graduated from St Thomas Grammar School and attended Wilby High School and spent many years working alongside her sisters, and other family members, at the Waterbury Republican American Newspaper and more recently at JC Penney as a retail clerk in the Home Department. She enjoyed gardening, painting, crafting, and making jewelry as well as baking. Rose was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where she served as Past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and was long-time parishioner of SS Peter and Paul Church. Rose was always happiest while spending time with her family. She enjoyed shopping for bargains and also loved traveling and taking day trips. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children, Edmund G. Angell Jr of Waterbury, Sandy Fitzsimons and her husband, Mark of Wolcott, and Lynn Lindsay and her husband, Raymond of Terryville. She is also survived by her siblings Gary Benson of Meriden, and Patricia Carpentier of Waterbury in addition to her 4 grandchildren; Samuel, Justin, Hannah, and Zachary. Many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is predeceased by her siblings; Margaret Falcone, Ernest Benson Jr., Mary Ellen Gorman, Edward Benson, Jeanette Nonamaker, and Carol Perugini.


Funeral services for Rose will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, SS Peter and Paul Church 87 Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery Waterbury. Calling hours are Monday, November 28, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705.
