Rudolph F. Hermstadt Jr.
Waterbury- Rudolph F. Hermstadt Jr. age 72 of Waterbury, formerly of Stuart, FL., and Naugatuck died Monday at Cedar Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was the former husband of Elaine Janauskas of Waterbury.
Rudolph was born December 23, 1935 in Waterbury, a son of the late Rudolph F. and Mary (Gilroy) Hermstadt Sr. He was a graduate of Crosby High School Class of 1953. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed as a chief lineman at CL&P. Rudolph was an avid singer and enjoyed coaching and playing baseball, softball and football and played semi-pro football for several years. He was a member of the W.H.A.C., the Waterbury B.P.O.E.Lodge 265, and College Capers and coached the Wolcott Eagles and South End Bears for several years.
Besides his former wife of Waterbury, he leaves a son Rudy Hermstadt of Waterbury.
Funeral Saturday at 9:30 at Saint Francis Xavier Church. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. For more information or to send an online condolence kindly visit
