Mr. Ruperto Hernandez

                                                                Loving father, brother, and uncle. 

WATERBURY - Ruperto "Ruben" Hernandez age 66, of Tampa Florida, passed away unexpectedly in St. Vincent Hospital in Bridgeport on Friday, August 9, 2024.  

Ruperto was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 12, 1958, son of late Pedro Hernandez and Ermelinda (Velez) Hernandez. He moved to Waterbury and graduated from Wilby High School in 1976. Ruben had a passion for cars but what was most important was caring for and spending time with his family. He was the type of person to give his shirt off his back with no hesitation. He had an extraordinary sense of humor and a powerful personality. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.  

Left to honor his memory are his daughters, Christina Hernandez West and Miranda Andujar, and his son, Michael Hernandez. He also leaves his siblings; brothers; Elio Hernandez and Irad Hernandez, sisters; Emily, Almida, and Rosie as well as four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Hiram and Abraham Hernandez.  

Relatives and friends may visit with the Hernandez family on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
