AT THE CASEY -O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WATERBURY - Venice FL. Ruth B. (O'Connor) Finn, 91, of Venice Florida, formerly of Waterbury, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of William A. Finn Jr.
Ruth was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late John and Nora (Perkinson) O'Connor. She graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School and the College of New Rochelle. She was retired from Summit Corp of America in Thomaston, having worked as the Executive Assistant to the CFO, Leonard Foster. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Church. Ruth loved the beaches and sea creatures of Venice. She was very concerned for their welfare with the recent oil spill. She especially loved the seabirds and a memorial fund has been created in her name.
Ruth leaves four children: Rosalind Diemand and her husband Dennis of Wolcott, John S. Finn of Thomaston, Ruth Finn Gray and her husband Don of Venice, FL, and William A. Finn III and fiancée Debra Farren of Wolcott; a sister, Sr. M. Consolata O'Connor (Rosalind), of West Hartford; nine grandchildren: Christine Shea Bianchi of Wolcott (Bill), Larry Shea of Brooklyn, NY, David Finn (Jennifer) of Biloxi, MS, Stephen Finn of Southbury, Seann Mulligan of Tampa, FL, Colin Mulligan of Prospect, Erin Mulligan of Venice, FL, David Sawyer of Fall River, Ms, and Virginia Finn of Wolcott. She leaves four great-grandchildren: William, Samuel and Benjamin Bianchi of Wolcott and Connor Finn of Biloxi MS. Ruth was predeceased by her brother, John, and sisters, Dorothy Sutton, Rosemary Furshay and Evelyn O'Connor. A sister, Mary Catherine died in infancy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Finn will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Leo the Great Church 14 Bentwood Dr Waterbury. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. The Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
