Loving Mother, Grandmother
WATERBURY –Ruth Ursula Guerrera, age 93, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after an extended illness. She was the beloved widow of Elio Guerrera.
Ruth was born January 1, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Francisco) Pesce. Ruth grew up in Waterbury and was a graduate of Wilby High School. She was a loving and dedicated homemaker who devoted herself to her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, spending time in her garden, and she loved cats and dogs. Ruth was always happiest while spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. Ruth made the world a better place for all of us, and we are all blessed and thankful to have had her in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her children; Mary Lou Guerrera of Oakville, Lea Hudak and fiancé, Nicholas Biello of Oakville, and Domenic Guerrera and his wife, Jacqulyn of FL. She also leaves her sisters; Mildred Genova, Rita Alexenis, and Jenny Finkle. Ruth was blessed with six grandchildren; Nicholas Zappone, Jennifer Guerrera, Stephanie Laribee, Erin Brenes, Kameron Guerrera, and Kandice Guerrera, eight great-grandchildren; Nicole, Natasha, Tony, Domenic, Natalie, Bennett, Eliott, and Kashton, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers; Tony Pesce, Nicholas, Pesce, and William Pesce, and her sister, Louise Luchene.
The Guerrera family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Village at East Farms for the wonderful care they provided to Ruth during her stay.
Funeral services for Mrs. Guerrera will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, Oakville. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Guerrera family on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT.
