AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Sally Eleanor (Jones) Goth, 84, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died Saturday, Nov. 20, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Franklin Goth, who survives.

Sally was born March 12, 1926, in Cairo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Robert L. Jones and Harriett Goldberg Jones. She was educated in Cairo schools, and was the valedictorian of the class of 1942. She was also a graduate of Krissler Business Institute, Poughkeepsie.

She was employed as a secretary at New York Life in Poughkeepsie before moving to IBM, where she was the executive assistant to successive directors of the company's Poughkeepsie research laboratory.

She retired from IBM in 1957 to raise her family, and also became an accomplished author of humorous poetry and light verse, with publication credits in numerous magazines and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal and Reader's Digest. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and successfully raised numerous baby birds that had been blown or fallen from their nests.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gregory (Alison) Goth of Oakville, Conn., and Brian Goth of Red Hook, N.Y; a grandson, Benjamin Goth, of Oakville; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville, CT 06779 has been entrusted with arrangements.
