U.S. Navy Veteran devoted to his family
WATERBURY – Salvador Torres, age 64 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Joann Torres for 42 years.
Skip was born on May 17, 1958, in Parkville, MD the son of Edith Saylor Torres and the late Salvador Torres. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. He proudly served his country in The Navy aboard the carrier group USS America. Skip was a retired truck driver who spent his retired days caring for stray cats that he called his porch angels. What was most important to Salvador however was his family and his friends who became family. He will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy besides his devoted wife Joann are his children: Joshua Torres of Buckeye AZ, Marlese Perez and her husband Jose of Waterbury and Lianne Torres also of Waterbury. Skip and Joann were blessed with a granddaughter, Skylar Perez. The only thing Salvi loved more than being a father was being a grandfather. He also leaves several siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services for Salvador Torres will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 3:30 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with the Torres family on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until the service at 3:30 p.m. Military honors will be accorded Seaman Torres at the conclusion of the funeral service, To honor Salvador’s memory and in lieu of flowers, please donate to Rose Hope Animal Shelter at
