WATERBURY - Mr. Salvatore Gino Montavon age 93, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Stefanina (Violante) Montavon.
Sal was born July 27th 1922 in Italy, the son of the late Ernesto and Anita (Occhiate) Montavon. He immigrated to the US in 1962 and spent many years working as a Plater at the Bristol Company until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed singing, playing the lotto, and watching television game shows. Sal especially enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchild. His family will always cherish the memories of swinging together on the front porch, singing with him while swinging, talking and enjoying the day together.
Besides his wife, Stefanina of 54 years, Sal is survived by his children, Ferdinando Montavon and his wife, Claudete of Waterbury, Alphonse Montavon of Waterbury, Anna Lydia Montavon Pettaway of Waterbury, Katherine Rossi and her husband, Matthew of Southington, his grandchildren; Nick, Anthony, Mike, and Brendan, and his two great granddaughters Faith and Phoenix in addition to several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Ferdinando, Theresa, and Gino.
Funeral services for Mr. Montavon will be held on Thursday April 21st 2016 at 8:45am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 785 Highland Ave Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30am Burial will follow in Old Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Sal's family on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm.
