AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME ?" Mrs. Sarah (D'Amelio) Guisto age 97, of 2171 East Main St, Waterbury, died Wednesday at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Charles Guisto who passed away in 1997.
Sarah was born in Carlantino, Italy on January 7. 1912, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Concetta (D"Orio) D'Amelio. She was employed for many years at the Waterbury Button Company. Known to her entire family as "Nannie", Sarah loved to crochet and knit and was the consummate homemaker. She enjoyed music and dancing but was most appreciated for her incredible recall of family history, traditions and events. For "Nannie", family was the center of her life and a loving family was central to her own long and rich life. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly throughout her long life.
Sarah is survived by two sons, Charles Guisto of Loveland Colorado and Richard Guisto of Sun City Arizona, eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. She also leaves several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Guisto will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 8:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
