Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother
OAKVILLE- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Shirley E. (Dyer) Giordano, age 93, of Oakville, share the news of her peaceful passing on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was the wife of the late Martin Giordano, enjoying 49 wonderful years together.
Shirley was born in Waterbury on August 4th, 1931, the daughter of the late Chester Dyer and Anna (Murphy) Dyer. She attended St. John’s School and was the loving wife of Martin Giordano. Shirley was a devoted homemaker; known for her incredible cooking and the love she infused into every meal. Her famous pasta, meatballs, and garlic bread were highlights at family gatherings, where laughter and stories filled the air. Though she enjoyed her time as a homemaker, she also spent time working at Friendly’s and at Finast in the deli. Deeply passionate about her interests, Shirley was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and found joy in shopping and ceramics. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was a remarkable individual who touched so many with great kindness. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for the thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her children; Martin Giordano and his wife Jean of Oakville, Deborah Zappone of North Carolina and Robert Giordano of Florida, her granddaughters; Jessica Fedorich and her husband Jeremiah of Thomaston and Nina Saturno of North Carolina, her great-grandchildren; Mikayla Fedorich, Savannah Fedorich, Gabriella Fedorich, Hunter Fedorich, Noah Fedorich and Mia Stango and many more loving extended family members. Besides her husband, Martin, she is also predeceased by her grandson; James Giordano and her brother; Thomas Dyer.
