Ms. Sonia Vazquez

WATERBURY – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Ms. Sonia Vazquez announce her passing on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  

Sonia was born on May 23, 1947 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Leonilda Irizarry and Raul Vazquez. Sonia will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to have known and loved her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her beloved family and friends. 

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children; Carmen Vazquez, Yesenia Vazquez, Maribel Irizarry Ramos, Idaly Irizarry, Elix Cintron, Sonia Diaz, grandchildren; Julissa Vazquez, Dominque Dildy, Emanuel Perez, Luis Maldonado, Edwin Perez and many more, her sister Carmen Nelson, along with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Jose A. Olivera “Jumbo”, and Luis O. Munoz “Papo”. 

Funeral services for Sonia will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Casey’s Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Sonia’s family on Thursday morning March 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
