WATERTOWN - Stella R. Hughes, age 92 of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury after a brief illness. She was the widow of James Patrick Hughes Jr.
Stella was born June 22nd 1923 in Greenwich, CT, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Bombar) Ryscik. Stella was a graduate of Port Chester High School and spent many years working as a transportation supervisor for Dow Corning in in Trumbull, CT until her retirement in 1982. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Watertown where she has spent the last 22 years. She was an avid reader and knitter and was a parishioner of St John the Evangelist Church in Watertown where she was a member of the Bearevement Minsitry. On a monthly basis Stella would gather the names of all the deceased parishoniers and send cards to their releatives offering them prayers of comfort.
Among her survivors are her two daughters, Janice Wilkinson of Woodbury and Denise A. little of North Wales, PA, her three grandsons, Sean Patrick Little, Jason King and Jonathan King as well as her two great granddaughters, Madison Grace Little and Kaylee Marie Little and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Johnny and Edward Hughes and her sisters, Helen Ryscik, Rose Kiesel, and Sophie Tucker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes will be held on Saturday, August 8th 2015 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St Watertown, CT followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery Watertown.
