"Devoted to her family"
WATERBURY - Suzanne (Biron) Rutka, age 90 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 with her family by her side at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital.

Suzanne was born on October 7, 1930 in Bristol CT the daughter of the late Alphonse and Cecile (Desfosses) Biron. She graduated from St. Anne's School and Bristol High School and worked for many years as a sales associate at Caldor in the jewelry and photo departments. She had an insatiable appetite to "learn", was an avid reader and returned to college at age 65 to earn her Associates degree. Community service was very important to her. She volunteered at Cheshire Correctional Institution in the Thresholds program which helped inmates learn decision making skills and transition back into society. She was an active parishioner at SS Peter & Paul Church where she volunteered in many activities. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, neighbors and friends. Suzanne liked to travel, especially to Canada to visit family. She loved to laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. What was most important to Suzanne however was her family. Her children and grandchildren always came first. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to cherish her memories and honor her legacy are her children; John Rutka Jr of Southbury
Adele Musano of Wolcott, Judith Cullen of Waterbury, Carolynn Rutka of Watertown, William Rutka of Waterbury, and Mary Lou Miele and her husband, Steven of Wolcott. Suzanne was blessed with four grandchildren; Laura, Tracie, Jonathan and Justin, one great granddaughter, Abigail, and her dear longtime friend Rosalie Griffin. She was predeceased by her son, Martin Rutka. The Rutka family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Middlebury Convalescent Home and Vitas Innovative Care for the love and care they shared with Suzanne and her family.
