'Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother'
WATERBURY - Mrs. Theresa K. Filippone, age 87, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 24, 2022,after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Filippone for 66 years.
Theresa was born on September 5, 1934, in Waterbury, to the late Michael and Anna Kuibeda. She attended Thomaston schools where she played girls' basketball and graduated from Thomaston H.S. in 1952. Before taking on her honored role as homemaker, she was employed as a secretary by Eclipse Glass Co., Princeton Knitting Mills, and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Theresa was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and a member of the Madonna Guild, the Prospect unit of the LaSalette Mission and the Evergreen Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, baking, and cooking holiday meals. Theresa received awards for her excellence in short-hand and typing. She enjoyed weekly church Bingo games, trips to the casino and computer games. Theresa spent many years socializing with
friends at picnics and pool parties and loved vacationing with her family at Bantam Lake. She had many lifelong friends from early school days whom she would get together for ladies' luncheons.
{In addition to Robert, her loving husband of 66 years, Theresa is survived by her children, Carol Pelletier and her husband Michael of Northfield, CT, Michael Filippone of Ocala, FL, and Susan Filippone of Southbury, CT; her brother, Michael Kuibeda, Jr. and his wife Gertrude of Waterbury, CT; her sister, Mary Platt of Woodbury; her three beloved grandchildren, Stephen Pelletier, Christine Sabella and Tyler Galgano; her five precious great-grandchildren, William & Emma Pelletier, Oliver, Judah and Maya Sabella; and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Anna Kuibeda, and her brother John Kuibeda.
Funeral services for Mrs. Filippone will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Theresa's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury.
