Devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather
OAKVILLE – Thomas Allen Fayer Sr., age 70, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital after a long but courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving and devoted husband of Cheryl (Brown) Fayer for 49 years.
Thomas was born on January 27, 1953, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Harvey and Catherine (Culbert) Fayer Sr. Thomas was employed by Metro North Railroad for 40 years as a welder. He was an avid outdoorsman including camping, fishing, and kayaking. Thomas enjoyed watching and attending Nascar Races. He also participated in tractor pulls at the local fairs and spent his summers at his second home in Maine. Tom was a devout and loyal catholic who was always willing to help his friends and family. He adored his dogs Buddy and Buddy Jr. Most of all, Tom cherished his time with his wife, being a supportive father to his children, but especially loved being with his only granddaughter, Chelsea who was affectionately known as his “Chee Chee.” He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memories besides his wife. Cheryl are his children; Thomas Fayer Jr., and Wendy (Paul) Ceryak, and his special granddaughter, Chelsea. He also leaves his siblings; Harvey Fayer Sr., Leonard Fayer, Cathy Allyn, and Cindy Whiteman, along with extended family and friends. Thomas was predeceased by his brother. John Fayer.
Funeral services for Thomas Fayer Sr. will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 when a Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 576 Main St. Watertown at 10:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial
will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. The Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St.,
